Markets ends with modest loss, Sensex above 20K

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 20,875.71, down 56.77 points or 0.27 percent and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 25.85 points or 0.41 percent to settle at 6,275.70.
Mah and Mah, Tata Motors, BPCL, Reliance Power were among the top gainers with 3.24 percent, 2.57 percent, 1.57 percent, 1.46 percent up respectively.
Ambuja Cements, Ranbaxy Labs, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto were among the top losers with 2.43 percent, 2.25 percent, 2.24 percent, 2.20 percent down respectively.

Nifty hovers around 6300 mark; ACC, Cipla lose
Nifty continued rangebound it hovered around the 6300 mark within a narrow range of 40 points. Sensex also continued trading in the red.
At 1:53 pm, BSE Sensex was trading at 20,911.09, down 21.39 points, NSE Nifty stood at 6,286.80, down 14.75 points.
While selling continued in FMCG, capital goods, metal, banks and realty stocks, buying was seen in consumer durables, auto, IT and telecom stocks.
The largecap gainers were Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, BPCL, Wipro and Infosys, while Hindalco, Ambuja Cements, IDFC, Cipla and ACC were on the losing side.
Among the heavyweights, Reliance Industries was trading at Rs 1,110.70 up 0.29 per cent; Infosys was trading at Rs 3,095.60 up 1.43 per cent, and HPCL was trading at Rs 473.05 up 0.9 per cent.

Nifty rangebound; telecom FMGC dip
Nifty yet again went into range-bound trade while Sensex continued to trade below the 21,000 mark on consistent selling in financial, capital goods, telecom, FMCG.
At 12: 18 pm, BSE Sensex was at 20,947.70, up just 15.22 points, while NSE Nifty was 6,299.10, down 2.45 points.
Cement companies' shares along with Hindalco and Sterlite Industries were also witnessing selling, capping the gains.
However, on the positive side, oil & gas, technology and Tata companies' shares were helping the markets.

Mkts open flat on mixed Asian cues; Infy, DLF dip
On mixed cues from Asian markets, benchamark indices opened the day on a flat note as they hovered over the previous closing values.
At 9:30 am, BSE Sensex was at 20,887.68, down 44.80; NSE Nifty was at 6,289.45, down 12.10 points. At opening bell, the CNX Midcap rose 2.5 points to 9755 and the BSE Smallcap Index went up 26 points to 11174.
Selling pressure was seen on frontliners like ICICI Bank, IDFC, Axis Bank, Ambuja Cements, ACC, Sterlite Industries, Infosys and DLF.
However, on the positive side, Tata Motors shot up 5 per cent riding on encouraging Q2 results. Bharti Airtel went up 1 per cent as the company reported good numbers on standalone basis but consolidated numbers were disappointing due to Zain inclusion.
