Maoists torch four trucks in Gaya in protest against Obama visit

Gaya, Nov 8 (ANI): Maoists torched four trucks in Bihar's Gaya district in protest against the visit of US President Barrack Obama to India.

They torched four trucks under Amas police station area on the National Highway 2 in the district, police said.

The rebels also attacked a police camp at a government school under Dumaria police station area forcing the policemen to open fire on them.

The exchange of fire between policemen and Naxalites lasted for an hour but finally they escaped from the spot.

A massive combing operation has been launched in the area to nab the Maoists.

Security arrangement had been beefed up further in view of the polling for the fifth phase of Bihar Assembly elections slated to be held in Gaya district tomorrow.

Earlier, train services got disrupted here following threats by Maoists to blow up railway tracks in view of the shut down call given by the ultras.

S. Bhattacharya, Area Manager of the Railways said that the Maoists warned the gatemen to stop the trains immediately as they had planted bombs on the railway tracks.

As a precautionary measure, the movement of all trains has been stopped.

Bhattacharya also said that movement of trains would be resumed until and unless security team and bomb squad declare the tracks to be safe. (ANI)
