Jal weakens, heavy rains in Orissa for next 48 hrs

Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: Heavy rains were forcast in parts of Orissa on Monday, Nov 8 as cyclonic storm 'Jal' over southwest Bay of Bengal weakened into a depression, official said.

According to the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre, the cyclonic storm has weakened into a depression and crossed north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast on Sunday, Nov 7 night.

Under its influence, heavy rainfall and thundershowers are expected in parts of Orissa in the next 48 hours, the official said.

Orissa ports like Paradip and Gopalpur have been advised to keep the storm warning signal hoisted.
