Police-PCPA clash in WB; 1 killed, 25 injured
A group of people, mostly comprising of PCPA supporters, attacked the security force in the wee hours of Nov 4 morning prompting the police to fire.
According to ASP Mukesh Kumar, the incident took place at around 3:30 am after the security forces reached Chunapara in the district following a tip off that some Maoists were holding a meeting there.
Among the 25 injured, 18 were security personnel, including Officer-in-charge of the police station Uttam Debnath, who has reportedly sustained serious injuries.
The ASP said that the mob attacked the security personnel with lathis, sharp weapons and bow and arrows, leaving the security personnel with no other option but to open fire.
The deceased's body has been recovered. Seven villagers were injured in the clash.
