Pope says there is rubbish in our consciousness: Hindus purify it through selfless work
Nevada (US), Nov 04 (ANI): Rubbish is not only on different streets of the world. There is rubbish also in our consciences and in our souls, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI reportedly stated in catechesis given on November three at Vatican City.
Pope (as per Zenit translation) reportedly further said: Only the light of the Lord, his strength and his love is what cleanses us, purifies us, showing us the right path... let us allow ourselves to be enlightened and cleansed, to learn the true life.
Eminent Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, pointed out that as per ancient Hindu thought, selfless work sanctified consciousness. As ego-entanglement contaminated most human action, it could not sanctify consciousness. On the other hand, selfless work simply had no streak of ego-entanglement.
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, quoted from ancient Hindu scripture Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord): ...by dedication to selfless work one accomplishes the supreme goal of life...let the Atman (Self, the innermost soul) rule the ego.
Pope Benedict heads the Roman Catholic Church, which is the largest of the Christian denominations. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal.(ANI)
