Assam govt alarms Centre on NSCN(I-M) illegal acts

Guwahati, Nov 4: The Assam government has again informed the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday, Nov 3 about the involvement of members of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (I-M) in illegal activities like extortion in the State.

Sources said that the NSCN rebels has started issuing demand notes to government officers in North Cachar Hills and police suspects that the militant outfit used its supporters to deliver the demand notes.

Further reports said the outfit has a major support base in the villages inhabited by Nagas and though operations are launched in those areas from time to time, the activities of the group has not ceased.

Meanwhile, commenting on the cease-fire agreement with the Centre since 1997, the Assam government told the sources that the militant outfit continue to violate the peace process through different illegal acts in the state.
