Mumbai: Under-construction flyover collapses

Mumbai, Nov 3: Three cars were smashed after an under construction flyover, Lalbagh flyover collapsed in central Mumbai on Tuesday, Nov 2.

"A small portion of the under-construction Lalbaug flyover opposite Bharat Mata cinema in Parel collapsed at 6:30 pm," stated the fire brigade officials after the incident on Nov 2.

Three people including one biker were injured during the accident and they were taken to the near by hospital.

However, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials, who were in charge of the project, stated that any structural fault did not cause the collapse.

After the accident, Babasaheb Amebedkar Road was cordoned off and for more than an hour, south-bound traffic was diverted via Ernst Borges Road.
