Harley assembly in India soon, prices to go down

Harley-Davidson India has decided to assemble select models in the country at its CKD (complete knock-down) assembly facility in Haryana from 2011.
The facility is set to be operational in the first half of 2011, following which the company will commence assembling of the motorcycles from component kits supplied by its parent company"s plants located in US.
Once the company begins assembling the iconic motorcycles in the country, the prices are bound to go down. India will also become the second country after Brazil to house Harley assembly operations outside the United States.
However, the assembly plans are limited only to select models while the others will be imported as completely built motorcycles.
The iconic American motorcycle brand entered India in Aug 2009. With 12 models in its 2010 line-up, priced between Rs 6,95,000 and 34,95,000; Harley Davidson opened its first dealership in July 2010.
