Dam project: Jairam sends notice to AP govt
The notice claimed that the state began construction without holding public hearings in neighbouring Orissa and Chhattisgarh, which would be affected by the dam.
In 2009, Central Water Commission put a condition that embankments would have to be build to prevent submergence of land in the neighbouring states.
Rs 11,000 crore Pola-Varam dam project, which from the beginning came under controversy for alleged violation of environment norms, would be the biggest dam in South India.
