Bihar polls: 51 percent polling in fourth phase

Defying the poll boycott call by Naxals, voters from eight districts casted their votes for 42 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat. The polling percentage has improved than in the Oct 2005 Assembly and 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
The Naxal-affected districts like Khagaria and Begusarai marked polling of 53 and 55 percent respectively. Other Naxal belts including Lakhisarai, Munger and Jamui districts recorded an average poll 48 percent.
The fourth phase election saw stray incidents of landmine blast and bomb explosion. Naxals triggered a bomb blast on the Chakai-Jamui main road in the Batia jungle.
In another incident a woman was injured when Naxals set off two bombs near a booth in Danapur assembly constituency.
