Andhra formation day: Celebrations amid security

Andhra has been beefed up with tight security as tensions prevailed in parts of Telangana. Many protesters were arrested for disrupting the official celebrations in different parts of the state.
At Amardeep Telangana protesters and students from Osmania University tried to stop Chief Minister K Rosaiah's convoy when he was heading towards NTR Stadium to attend the main official celebrations.
Police arrested students at the Indira Park when they were trying to release black balloons. More than 200 protesters were arrested in Warangal.
Chief Minister Rosaiah has appealed to protesters to have patience till the Centre takes a decision on the statehood issue.
"All supporters of Telangana must wait till the Centre takes a decision on the Srikrishna Committee's report," said Rosaiah.
The Andhra Pradesh state was formed in Nov 1, 1956 by merging Telangana, Telugu-speaking Rayalseema and the coastal Andhra areas of Madras State.
