Kerala civic polls: LDF bags Kozhikode corporation
The rulling LDF has faced a stiff competition from the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), which bagged 34 seats. LDF also won Vadakara and Koilandy muncipalities.
In Koilandy muncipality, LDF has won 27 seats, UDF got 14 and BJP won three seats out of 44 seats. In Vadakara muncipality LDF won 27 seats, UDF 17 and others got three seats.
LDF got Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kozhikode corporations out of five corporations in Kerala. UDF gained Kochi and Thrissur corporations.
In Kozhikode corporation, all the candidates of the CPI have lost and Janata Dal lost both their seats.
The counting of the polled votes in Kozhikode district was delayed because of a legal dispute over delimitation of wards in Velam division, where polling was held on Saturday, Oct 30. Results of the other districts had been announced on Wednesday, Oct 27.
