Indira Gandhi remembered on her death anniversary

New Delhi, Oct 31: President Pratibha Singh Patil and Vice President Hamid Ansari paid homage to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 26th death anniversary at Shakti Sthal on Sunday, Oct 31.

Tributes was also paid by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit.

A series of programmes are being organised across India to commemorate Indira Gandhi's martyrdom.

Indira Gandhi, who was the India's first lady Prime Minister from 1966 to 1976 and again from 1980 to 1984.

She was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards-Satwant Singh, Beant Singh and Kehar Singh at her residence on Oct 31st 1984.
