Kolkata: Fire at Presidency Univ, no casualties

Kolkata, Oct 29: The chemistry department of Presidency University in Kolkata was caught under a major fire on Friday, Oct 29, fire brigade official informed.

According the fire brigade sources, eleven fire engines were fighting the blaze with water drawn from the nearby College Square tank.

However, no casualties have been reported so far but the cause of the fire was not known.

The fire broke out on the third floor of Baker Building, where chemicals and gas cylinders were stored and there was a danger of the blaze spreading, stated the acting principal, Amitava Chattopadhyay.
