Nifty ends above 6k; ICICI, RIL, HUL lead

Mumbai, Oct 29: The benchmark Nifty closed the day on positive note, which surged above the 6000 level. It was supported by ICICI Bank Reliance Industries, L&T, HDFC Bank, NTPC and HUL.

Even the Sensex ended above 20,000 mark though there was extreme volatility in trade . On the other side, selling was seen in metal, realty, SBI, Tata Motors, Hero Honda, HDFC, PNB and Sun Pharma.

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 20,032.34, up 91.30 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 30 points to settle at 6,017.70.

Nifty hovers around 6000 mark

Amid volatility, NSE Nifty hovered around 6000 mark in the later trade on Oct 29.

At 1:40 pm, the Sensex was down 28.79 points or 0.14 percent at 19912.25, and the Nifty was down 3.95 points or 0.07 percent at 5983.75. About 1193 shares advanced, 1889 shares declined, and 359 shares remain unchanged.

Glenmark Pharma, M&M Financial, Sintex India, Hind Nat Glass and India Infoline, who among the top gainers of BSE midcap were up 3-6 percent.

Splash Media, Sanwaria Agro, SREI Infra, Elgi Equipments and KRBL, who among the top gainers in BSE smallcap were up 5-10 percent up.

Nifty continues trading in a narrow range

NSE Nifty continued trading in a narrow range of 5960-6000 mark.

At 12:22 pm, the Sensex was trading at 19930, down 10.8 points and the Nifty was at 5987, down 0.35 points.

Reliance Power, BPCL, Reliance Industries, who among the top gainers were trading at 3.24 percent, 2.15 percent, 1.57 percent up respectively.

SAIL, Tata Motors, Kotak Mahindra Bank, who among the top losers were trading at 3.13 percent, 2.7 percent, 2.34 percent down respectively.

Markets begin on a mild note amid volatility

NSE Nifty bounced back in the opening trade on Friday, Oct 29 but it could not sustain the power amid volatility.

At 9:38 am, the Sensex was trading at 19,945, up 13 points and the Nifty was at 5997, up 10 points.

Reliance Power, ONGC, Reliance Communications, M&M, NTPC, Sterlite and Ranbaxy Labs, who among the frontliners were on the buyers radar.

However, Cement, select financial and metal companies' shares were on sellers' radar.
