BRO provides free artificial limbs to victims of militant attacks in J-K
Srinagar, Oct.29 (ANI): The Border Road Organisation (BRO) officers have organised a three-day relief camp here to provide artificial limbs to the victims, who were left handicapped in the militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
BRO, which is deployed in the region for the construction work, will provide free medical assistance including the artificial limbs to the handicapped during the camp beginning today.
Most of the victims, who have either lost their legs or their arms in the bomb explosions, carried by the militants are from the remote border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The locals thanked the organisers for giving them a reason to live with dignity.
"This year the situation was really bad. Many people were handicapped. The people who lost their hands and legs are present here. We are really happy because of the camp. We are thankful to them (Border Road Organisation)," said Afroza, a victim in the camp.
Over 150 persons have so far visited the camp, where a measurement of the limb to be prepared will be taken and then the required limb would be attached to them.
"For the last 20 years the people, who have been a victim of militancy or have lost their limbs because of blasts, have come here in large numbers. We would like to help them so that they can live their lives normally," said Brigadier T.R.S. Raawat, Chief Engineer of BRO. By Parvez Butt(ANI)
