Supreme Court protects Tamil Nadu's quota law

New Delhi, Oct 27: The Supreme Court dismissed a review petition filled by an NGO against the 69 percent quota in educational institutions and jobs in Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, in Jul 2010, apex court granted protection to Tamil Nadu's quota law which provides 69 percent reservation in educational institutions and jobs to backward classes, but advised the state government to revisit the issue.

The apex court bench also directed the state backward classes commission to revisit the reservation issue in the light of the Mandal case judgment dealing with quotas.
