India, Malaysia sign MoUs in IT, medical sectors

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 27: After meeting his Malaysian counterpart, Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh signed on Oct 27 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) in the areas of information technology, traditional medicine, cultural exchanges and research and development.

The two country also signed the agreement to implement Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), which would come into force from Jul 2011.

After visiting Japan, Singh, who reached Malaysia on Oct 26, was given a warm welcome by three Malaysian Ministers namely Deputy Foreign Minister, Kohilan Pillay; Human Resources Minister, S Subramaniam and MoS in the PMO, Dato Devaman.

Singh would return to India on Oct 30 before US President, Barack Obama's India visit on Nov 5.
