Bags of money are given by Iran, US: Karzai

Kabul, Oct 25: Having less revenues in the country, President Hamid Karzai on Monday, Oct 25 said his office gets $700,000 to $975,000 twice in a year from Iran and bags of money from Washington.

Sources said Iran continued to give cash to Afghan government in order to buy loyalty and promote Iranian interests in Afghanistan.

It was also reported that the money had been used to pay Afghan lawmakers, tribal elders, and even Taliban commanders.
