Murder convict saves ailing mom, donates kidney

Pune, Oct 23: When a fifty-year-old woman lost all hope as her both kidneys were damaged, court granted permission to her son, Akash, a convicted murderer, to donate a kidney to his mother.

Akash had been serving a life term in Yerawada jail for the past one-and-half years. He was found to be an accomplice to a murder. Akash felt that this could be his atonement for the trouble he has put his mother through.

“She has brought me into this world. This is just a small thing I am doing to save her life." said Akash.

However, his mother is fearful about what the kidney donation might do to his health.

After the operation in Nov, Akash hopes to nurse his mother back to health during his three-month parole.
