Assam: Rajdhani express stopped over rail protest

Kokrajhar, Oct 23: Delhi-bound Rajdhani express confronted rail protest at Kokrajhar district in Assam as Merchants Association of the district blocked the rail track on Oct 23.

Railway officials informed that the Rajdhani Express was controlled at Salakati, while local passenger trains were stopped by protesters at different places in the district.

Demading for a stoppage of the long-distance trains at the Kokrajhar district, Merchants Association called for the blockade on Oct 23.

"Today"s blockade was called as the assurance has not been honoured," association sources informed.

Earlier, railway administration and local MP assured the Merchant Association that the matter would be taken up with the railway authorities after it blocked train services for three hours on Sep 13.
