BJP slams UPA for letting Geelani 'azadi' meeting

New Delhi, Oct 22: While separatists leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani confronted shoe attack after holding the pro-azadi meeting at the capital on Oct 21, the central government faced BJP's rage for allowing the separatists holding such meetings.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Arun Jaitley on Friday, Oct 22 stated, "Yesterday (Oct 21) the country was shocked when separatists met under the nose of Central Government."

"Can democracy co exist with right of sedition? Obviously it cannot. Free speech is constitutional right, with constitutionally prescribed procedures," added Jaitley.

Expressing disgrace at the separatists leader, Jaitley stated, "Such exercises like those by Geelani yesterday (Oct 21) comes under penal law."

Along with Naxals leader and Khalistan sympathisers, Hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani organised a seminar on "Azadi, The Only Way" on Oct 21 under one platform to demand independence for Kashmir.
