Train Accident
New Delhi, Oct 21: Sabotage was the main reason behind Gyaneshwari rail accident in West Bengal, which claimed 150 lives, stated the investigators on Thursday, Oct 21.

"The cause of the accident is attributed to and certified as sabotage," stated the inquiry report submitted to railway ministry.

"Having carefully considered all the evidence tendered, records produced, observations, site inspection and circumstantial evidence, I have come to the conclusion that derailment of Gyaneshwari Express was caused due to tampering of track including removal of elastic clips and disturbance of cross level," the investigators stated in the report.

Mumbai bound Howrah-Kurla Gyaneshwati Express train collided with a goods train following blast near Jhargram in West Bengal's West Midanpore District on May 28.
