Guj panchayat election proceeds peacefully

Ahmedabad, Oct 21: The Gujarat panchayat and municipality elections which began on Thursday, Oct 21 morning in 24 district panchayats, 208 block panchayats and 53 municipalities proceeded peacefully.

Earlier, the State Election Commission (SEC) has declared 2556 booths as very sensitive. The counting will be held on Saturday, Oct 23.

In the first few hours of the polling an average of 10 percent voting was recorded, State Election Commission (SEC)officials said.

2,074 candidates for district panchayats, 10,489 candidates for block panchayats and 5372 candidates for municipality polls are in fray.

Earlier, in Municipal Corporation polls BJP won all the six Corporations.
