K'taka HC to resume hearing on BJP MLAs on Oct 21

Karnataka map
Bangalore, Oct 20: The fate of the BJP government will be now decided on Thursday, Oct 21, as the Karnataka HC postponed its hearing on the petition filed by the 11 disqualified BJP MLAs on Wednesday, Oct 20.

A single judge bench of VG Sabhahit started hearing the case Wednesday, Oct 20, after a two judge bench headed by the Chief Justice JS Khehar and another judge N Kumar on Monday differed on the issue.

The 11 BJP and 5 Independent MLAs were disqualified by Speaker KG Bopaiah under the provision of the anti-defection law on Oct 10, after that all the rebel MLAs approached the court against the Speaker's order.

The case of the five independent MLAs will be heard on Nov 2 by a larger bench.
