Former British PM Thatcher admitted to hospital

London, Oct 20: Former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher has been admitted to London's private Cromwell Hospital, following a recent flu illness, officials said on Tuesday, Oct 19.

Thatcher son Mark said, "She has been taken to hospital for some routine tests. She is recovering quite well and if everything goes according to plan she will be back home shortly."

85-year-old Margaret Thatcher, was British Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990. From past few years she has been facing a series of health problems.

Earlier, in 2001 and 2002, Margaret Thatcher suffered a series of mild strokes and doctor advised her not to make any public speeches.

In 2008 she became sick during a dinner at Westminster. In Jun 2009 she was taken to hospital when she broke her arm after a fall at her home.
