MP: 30 villagers lose eye-sight after surgery

Mandla, oct 20: In Madhya Pradesh nearly 30 villagers have complained about loss of their eye-sight at a public hearing held by the district collector in Mandla district.

Victims lost their eye-sight after they underwent an eye operations at an eye camp carried by the Yogiraj Hospital and Research Centre under the aegis of the Swami Seetharamji Maharaj Hanuman Ghat Trust.

After the incident came into light the Chief Trustee T S Mishra confirmed about the incident by stating that the operations were conducted on a total of 313 villagers out of whom 30 people lost their vision.

Under the guidance of Padmashree awardee Dr Vikas Mahatme the eye operations was carried by Dr Anil Parmar at the various villages of Mandla district.

In Bichchia tehsil 23 villagers were selected for the cataract surgeries held on Sep 10, where one lost his eye sight.

In Jhiria village 36 villagers were picked for the surgeries held on Sep 11, where 17 lost their vision. Similarly, in Ramnagar village 16 villagers were selected in which 3 lost their vision.
