WikiLeaks Iraq files: Pentagon tries to gag media?

WikiLeaks
Washington, Oct 19: As WikiLeaks gears up to release documents on Iraq after creating a storm with the Afghanistan war files, Pentagon has advised the main stream media against publishing the new classified documents.

Pentagon spokesman Col David Lapan advised the media against publishing the e sensitive classified documents on Iraq citing that by doing so the media will be providing legitimacy to WikiLeaks, which he called an irresponsible organisation.

He stressed that the classified documents are properties of the Department of Defense and the WikiLeaks should not publish them.

With the whistleblower website readying itself to release 400,000 documents on the Iraq war, Pentagon on Monday, Oct 18 set up a 120-man working group to review these documents.

WikiLeaks in July 2010 released 77,000 classified documents related to the Afghan war, raising a storm of questions and concerns.
