JK violence: Mastermind stone pelter arrested

Srinagar, Oct 19: Hardline Hurriyat Conference leader Masrat Alam, seen as stone pelter and mastermind of the current unrest in the Kashmir Valley was arrested on Tuesday, Oct 19 from the outskirts of the Srinagar city.

Sources said Alam is considered to be the close aide of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and is the general secretary of the party.

He would be booked under the Public Safety Act(PSA), official sources said.

They said curfew was likely to be imposed on Wednesday, Oct 20 in the city and some some sensitive areas as a precautionary measures.

Muslim League is a constituent of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat, headed by Geelani.
