India 2G spectrum proposals by October end, says TRAI chairman
New Delhi, Oct.19 (ANI): The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman J.S. Sarma said here on Tuesday they are working on new proposals for 2G spectrum pricing and are hopeful of releasing the recommendations by the end of this month.
"I do not want to comment on what exactly will be the nature of regulations at this stage but it should be out by the end of this month. These will be regulations," said Sarma.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommended in May that mobile carriers pay a one-time fee for holding 2G radio-spectrum beyond 6.2 mega hertz based on 3G prices.
In May, the regulator said it would submit fresh proposals to the government after a consultation process, and that the process would end by July 15. (ANI)
