AP: Chandrababu Naidu arrested at Begumpet airport
Naidu and other CPI and CPI (M) leaders were held when they tried to stage demonstrations in the airport premises for being denied permission to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Chandrababu Naidu was planning to meet Manmohan Singh to talk about the issues related to Andhra farmers, harassment of micro finance institutions, lack of godown space in the state.
After arrest Naidu said that it is unfortunate to see that government is arresting the Opposition leaders rather then arranging a meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss the problems of farmers.
"In democracy, everyone has a right to meet the Prime Minister and it is the responsibility of Andhra's Chief Minister K Rosaiah to arrange for a meeting with the PM," Naidu said.
Before arrest the activists had heated arguments with the police and later they were taken to Amberpet police station.
Prime Minister arrived Hyderabad to address a inaugural session of the 21st general meeting of Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and also to lay foundation stone for the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) campus at Gachibowli in Hyderabad.
