Bal Thackeray welcomes grandson into politics

Aditya Thackeray
Mumbai, Oct 18: Shiv Sena supremo, Bal Thackeray, has anointed his grandson Aditya Thackeray as the head of newly formed youth wing of the Shiv Sena, Yuva Sena.

Bal Thackeray on Sunday, Oct 17 handed over a sword and welcomed 21-year-old Aditya, the generation next of the Thackeray family, into active politics.

"Yuva Sena is an umbrella organisation for the youth," said Aditya, the head of Yuva Sena.

Just weeks ahead of this entry into politics, Aditya had sparked off a controversy by coercing the Mumbai University into removing Rohiton Mistry's novel 'Such a Long Journey' from the syllabus citing that it insulted Marathi manoos.

Interestingly, by welcoming his grandson into politics, Bal Thackeray has allowed what he hated about the Congress - dynasty politics.

However, Bal Thackeray rejected this, saying, "Did I ask Aditya to join the party? He has joined us by his own choice. It can't be therefore said that I have promoted dynasty in my party."
