Mysore celebrates 400th Dussehra on Oct 17

Mysore, Oct 17: When India celebrated Dussehra festival through out the country, the city of palaces, Mysore celebrated its 400th anniversary of yearly Dussehra celebration on Sunday, Oct 17.

The celebration also marked the 125th birth anniversary of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar along with the completion of 100 years of the Palace.

Karnataka Chief Minister, BS Yeddyurappa would perform a special puja to the "Nandidwaja" in front of the Mysore Palace on Oct 17.

Goddess Chamundewari on the Dussehra Festival 2010 would be worshiped by the state government which would be telecast live for the viewers.

The procession of Dussehra 2010 would began with a 21 gun salute and the festivities will conclude with a torch light parade at Bannimantapa.

More than two million tourists and foreigners have arrived in the city to participate in the festival while the rest of the country celebrated it with special Dussehra wishes, sms.
