Krishna supports Omar on JK accession remark

New Delhi, Oct 15: Supporting Jammu kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, External Affair Minister, SM Krishna stated that the state like Mysore really acceded to India not merged with the country.

"I don"t think Omar Abdullah has said anything objectionable. It is a fact that Jammu and Kashmir has acceded to India just like Mysore acceded to India," stated Krishna on Oct 15.

Krishna also pointed out that like Jammu and Kashmir, the Maharaja of Mysore had also signed an accession treaty, which stated, "and I am a citizen of Mysore."

However, the external affair minister also asserted that Jammu Kashmir is a "legitimate part" of India.

Recently, during state assembly meeting, Abdullah stated that the state had only acceded and not merged with Union of India.
