Manipur: Strike disrupts normal life

Imphal, Oct 15: Normal life was disrupted in Manipur on Friday, Oct 15, due to a strike called by some insurgent outfits in protest against Manipur"s merger with the union on Oct 15, 1949.

Shops, markets and business organizations remained closed in the state due to the strike called by insurgent groups including Revolutionary People"s Front (RPF) and People"s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).

Transport services within the state, normal life in interior hill and valley districts were also affected badly due to the strike.

Most of the insurgent groups have been calling general strike on Oct 15 every year for more than two decades in protest against the merger of the Manipur with Indian union.
