Senior police official Abid Qadri said that the authorities discovered about the plot during an interrogation of militants who were arrested after a shootout near a village in Multan, on Wednesday, Oct 13.
According to ABC News sources the militants were even planning to blow up Taunsa Barrage, a wetland on the Indus river, and a major bridge connecting Southern Punjab and Sindh province.
The arrested militants are all part of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, which is a banned Sunni Muslim militant group linked to both the Taliban and the Al Qaeda.
