New Delhi, Oct 13: The Indian government extended BlackBerry maker, Research in Motion's (RIM), deadline for 90 days. BlackBerry service will be available in the country till Jan 31, 2011.

Earlier on Friday, Oct 1, 2010, the telecommunications ministry had rejected RIM's new solution for the access to their encrypted BlackBerry corporate email services.

Some of the media reported that government extended deadline because of the ongoing Common Wealth Games 2010 and US President Barack Obama's visit to India on Nov 5, 2010.

Indian government asked RIM to allow security agencies to screen their highly encrypted e-mails sent through BlackBerry Messenger service.

The extension of the deadline will enable one million BlackBerry users in India to continue using their corporate email and instant messaging services.
