HC adjourns hearing in MLAs disqualification case

Two writ petitions were filed by the 16 disqualified MLAs challenging the Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah's decision.
The Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice N Kumar adjourned hearing after arguments were concluded on behalf of 11 BJP MLAs and orders were reserved on their petition.
The court also heard the writ petition filed by 5 Independent MLAs, who were disqualified by the speaker, under the provisions of the anti-defection law ahead of the trust vote in the Assembly
All the 16 MLAs argued that that they had never left the BJP and so they could not be disqualified on grounds of giving up membership of the party voluntarily.
