14 killed in Lucknow bus accident

Lucknow, Oct 11: At least 14 people, including seven children and four women, were killed on Monday, Oct 11 when the bus carrying them fell into a river in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh said police.

Sources said the accident took place along the bridge of the Choiya river in Dibai town. And it fell from a height of 25 feet killing 14 people on the spot.

"Till now, 14 bodies have been recovered. The injured are being treated in a hospital," deputy superintendent of police J.R. Joshi said. The exact number of passengers is yet to be ascertained, the police estimate there were around 35 people.

Police said the passengers were labourers heading to Badaun district from Ghaziabad to vote in the panchayat elections.
