New Delhi, Oct 9 (ANI): The Delhi Government has expressed its satisfaction with the percentage of functional street lights as the streets of Delhi are properly illuminated now with installation of modern street lights and better looking poles.

Keeping in view the XIXth Commonwealth Games, the Government took a number of initiatives to present a better image of the city for which substantial infrastructure development works and street scaping and modernization of street lights were completed well within the stipulated period.

The government entrusted the project of modernization of streetlights to three companies for 484 kilometers and the work has been completed successfully.

The Bajaj Electricals, however, was issued a show cause notice initially for there were some difficulties being faced in achieving hundred percent illuminations on all the newly erected poles.

Later, on the basis of records produced by the Company and its subsequent improved performance, it was found that the deficiencies were on account of many other factors, including cabling being undertaken by MTNL, ECIL and other agencies in the area.

The Delhi Government has appreciated the work of all the three companies including Bajaj Electricals Ltd. The success rate has now reached hundred percent with more than 98 percent of the street lights found functional at any given time.

The government is, however, keeping a strict vigil through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). (ANI)
