HP to launch webOS smartphones in 2011
"You will see us coming early next year with new phones," said Eric Cador, HP Senior Vice President.
HP, United States based multinational information technology corporation famous for its laptops and computers, is already a dominant force in PCs, servers, services and printers. The new smartphone is expected to have more features and facilities than the current models. Some of the blogger opinionated that the new phone will have high-resolution 800X480 display without keypad.
HP, the world's largest technology company by revenue, acquired Palm, a provider of smartphones powered by the Palm webOS mobile operating system, in Apr 2010 for $1.2 billion to enter to the fast growing handset market.
The Palm introduced webOS and Palm Pre mobile on Jun 6, 2009. The webOS features significant online social network and Web 2.0 integration. The webOS' graphical user interface was designed for use on devices with touchscreens.
