Mum airport cargo workers on strike
"Around 9,000 contract cargo workers, belonging to multiple cargo handling agencies at the Mumbai airport, are on flash strike to protest lack of basic amenities and other issues," airport sources said.
The strike has badly affected cargo operations at the Mumbai airport, which has almost come to a standstill.
Mumbai International Airport Ltd operates the airport and is responsible for supplying the basic amenities at the cargo terminal.
According to the sources, at the Mumbai International airport around 600 tonnes of cargo is exported and another 650 tonnes is imported, which fetches a duty collection of 25 crores.
