Google plays 'Imagine' as tribute to John Lennon

The internet behemoth has decked its home page with a simple black, and white sketch that ends with a red play sign. The simple streaks of lines that take the place of the 'oo' in Google roughly form the facial features of Lennon.
Clicking on the inviting red play sign treats the users to a 32-second audio-visual clip of Lennon's masterpiece 'Imagine'. The visuals comprise of psychedelic designs in black and white again.
John Lennon, a member of the world famous band 'The Beatles', was born on Oct 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England.
'Imagine' and 'Give Peace a Chance' are two exemplary pieces of his work that brims of Lennon's love for peace and humanity, and his vision of a beautiful world.
A sharp contrast to his beliefs was his death was born out of hatred. He was shot dead on Dec 8, 1980 at his New York apartment building by Mark David Chapman.
