Former TN minister found murdered in his residence

According to the sources, former AIADMK Minister Venkatachalam, was alone in his home and around 7 pm four unidentified persons chopped the former minister to death.
He was taken to a private hospital and then to the Government Headquarters Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Venkatachalam had won the 1996 Assembly elections from Alangudi constituency as an independent candidate. He was Minister for Tourism for a few months in Jayalalithaa's Ministry.
After the incident Venkatachalam's supporters set fire to a police vehicle and damaged vehicles including lorries and buses near Vadakadu. However, no injuries is reported till now.
Police is investigating the case and urged the Venkatachalam's supporters to maintain peace in the village.
