Centre to mediate between Nagas and M'pur govt

Dimapur, Ot 8: The Central government on Thusday, Oct 7 managed to facilitate talks between the agitation United naga Council(UNC) and the Manipur government.

Sources said talks between the two are likely to be held on Oct 16 hoping for the positive output in the state.

In the month of Sep the UNC had imposed a 20-day economic blockade against the Manipur government. This came less than two months after another Naga organization – All Naga Students" Association of Manipur – had temporarily suspended its 69-day blockade on two arterial highways leading to state capital Imphal.

The UNC has been opposing the autonomous district councils (ADCs) in hills of Manipur inhabited by Nagas and other tribes for the past 3 years.
