Sensex slips 228 points at closing

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 20,315.32, down 227.76 points or 1.11 percent and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 66.15 points or 1.07 percent to settle at 6,120.30.
However, the futures maintained its premum; Oct 2010 futures ended at 24 points premium, as per provisional data.
Tata Power, Dr Reddys Labs, Cipla, Hero Honda were among the top gainers with 2.49 percent, 1.99 percent, 1.30 percent, 1.14 percent up respectively.
Tata Steel, Sesa Goa, IDFC, Reliance Infra were among the top losers with 4.21 percent, 3.51 percent, 3.05 percent, 2.94 percent down respectively.

Market continues in red, Nifty below 6150 mark
Trading continued in red on the back of profit booking in financial, capital goods, realty, technology and select auto companies' shares.
Telecom and select healthcare companies' shares along with Tata Power, Hindalco, Hero Honda, ACC and Suzlon Energy were on buyers radar.
At 03.00 hrs, BSE Sensex was 20,298.53 down 244.55 points and NSE Nifty was 6116.30 down 70.15 points.
The most active in trade were Reliance, Tata Steel, SBI and Hindalco.
The top gainers were Tata Power up 2.06 percent, Dr Reddys Labs up 1.72 percent, Hero Honda up 1.01 percent and Cipla up 0.96 percent.
The top losers were Tata Steel down 4.02 percent, Sesa Goa down 3.06 percent, Reliance Infra 2.98 percent and IDFC down 2.76 percent.

Market opens in red, Wipro, HDFC down
Market started trading on negative note with a consolidation mode after seeing rally on Wednesday, Oct 6.
Suzlon Energy, SAIL, Ranbaxy Labs, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddys Labs, ONGC, Hindalco, Axis Bank, IDFC, Tata Motors, Cairn India and Reliance Industries were witnessing buying interest.
Ambuja Cements, HDFC, Infosys, Wipro, L&T and Jaiprakash Associates were facing loss in trade
At 9.25 hrs, BSE Sensex was 20,506.07 down 37.01 points and NSE Nifty was 6177.80 down 8.65 points.
The most active in trade were Reliance, Suzlon Energy, SAIL and Infosys.
The top gainers were Suzlon Energy up 3.18 percent, SAIL up 2.02 percent, Reliance Comm up 1.89 percent and Dr Reddys Labs up 1.43 percent.
The top losers were Wipro down 1.59 percent, HDFC down 1.50 percent, Ambuja Cements 0.90 percent and Infosys down 0.73 percent.
