Skype launches application for Android mobiles
The Skype application on Android mobiles will help the users to make free voice calls to other Skype users. Users have to install the Skype application and register on Skype. The registered users can communicate through both instant messaging and voice chat. Voice chat allows calls between pairs of users and conference calling, and uses a proprietary audio codec.
On Tuesday, Oct 5 Skype launched the application for Android 2.1 OS only. Those who have the lower version of Android have to update their OS for using this facility. Users can buy Skype application from Android market or can download from Skype website.
Skype application is already available for Apple iPhone and Nokia Symbian mobiles. The Skype users in India can make voice calls only over Wi-Fi network and also when Skype is used on Mobile Data Connection (GPRS and EDGE), the mobile operator will charge for the data usage.
