Gillard says 'foreign affairs is not her passion'
Canberra, Oct 6 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Jullia Gillard, after a hectic round of meetings with world leaders in Brussels, has admitted that dealing with foreign affairs is not really her cup of tea and added that she had joined politics to make a difference in the country, particularly in the field of education.
"Foreign policy is not my passion. It's not what I've spent my life doing. I came into politics predominantly to make a difference ... particularly to make a difference in education," news.com.au quoted Gillard, as saying.
"So yes, if I had a choice, I'd probably be more (comfortable) in a school watching kids learn to read in Australia than here in Brussels at international meetings," she added.
Although she said that she would complete her international duties, she also claimed that she is not as enthusiastic about diplomatic matters as her predecessor, Kevin Rudd.
On Monday, Gillard met with global political leaders, including US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron. (ANI)
