Rahul Gandhi equates "fanatic" SIMI & RSS

Bhopal, Oct 6: In a statement that is bound to spark off a row, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has drawn similarities between Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) citing that both are 'fanatical' and 'fundamentalist'.

This statement came on Tuesday, Oct 5 in Tikamgarh during his three-day tour in Madhya Pradesh.

When a journalist pointed out that his statements were controversial, the charismatic Gandhi disagreed and further asserted, “I know only that both SIMI and the RSS were fanatical and held fundamentalist views."

The young Lok Sabha MP, who is in-charge of youth wings of the Congress, stated that there was no place for people with fanatical views in the Youth Congress.
