Nifty closes above 6,000 mark

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 20,543.08, up 135.37 points or 0.66 percent and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 40.65 points or 0.66 percent to settle at 6,186.45.
The Nifty Oct 2010 futures ended at 24.5 points premium. The broader indices outperformed benchmarks; the BSE Midcap Index was up 1.1 percent and Smallcap up 0.75 percent.
Jaiprakash Asso, Sterlite Ind, Hindalco, IDFC were among the top gainers with 6.70 percent, 3.92 percent, 3.64 percent, 3.29 percent up respectively.
Ranbaxy Labs, Reliance Power, HUL, Sun Pharma were among the top losers with 1.41 percent, 1.30 percent, 0.94 percent, 0.90 percent down respectively.

Trading continues to be green; Sesa Goa up
At 2:30 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 20516.41, up 108.70 points and the Nifty was at 6178.00, up 32.20 points.
Heavy buying was seen in metal, realty and consumer durables stocks. All BSE sectoral indices were trading in green except FMCG.
Jaiprakash Associates, Hindalco, Sterlite Industries, Sesa Goa and Tata Steel were up 1.7-4.3 percent. Where as Reliance Power, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, HUL and Reliance Communications were down 0.4-0.7 percent.
Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 303.20 down 0.08 percent, Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 173.80. Shipping Corp, Motilal Oswal Finance, Indian Bank, JM Financial and Indiabulls Real were the Top gainers.
Top losers on the BSE Midcap were Pidilite Industries, Atlas Copco, Sintex India, Torrent Pharma and Triveni Engineering.

Market continues on positive note
Buying in metal, capital goods, auto, healthcare, Reliance Industries, TCS, Wipro, ITC, HDFC Bank and select power companies' shares, supported the Sensex to gain more than 100 points.
At 12:50 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 20526.06, up 118.35 points and the Nifty was at 6183.90, up 38.10 points.
Jaiprakash Associates was trading up 3.95 percent; Sterlite Industries up 3.60 percent; Hindalco up 2.76 percent; Bajaj Auto up 1.97 percent; PNB up 1.81 percent; Tata Steel up 1.46 percent and Jindal Steel up 1.30 percent.
Where as Shipping Corp surged 14.81 percent. Prakash Industries, State Bank of Mysore, India Cements and Cox & Kings gained 4-5 percent.

Nifty begins on strong note
The benchmark Nifty started the day on a strong note. It got back above 6200 level and the Sensex above 20500 level. Buying was seen across all sectors, especially metal was the biggest gainer.
At 9:35 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 20572.18, up 164.47 points and the Nifty was at 6193.85, up 48.05 points.
Reliance Communications, Jaiprakash Associates, Hindalco, Sterlite, Tata Steel, Sesa Goa, HDFC, Wipro, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Auto, L&T, TCS, SAIL, Suzlon Energy and M&M, witnessed buying interest.
